Brave Enough To Show Yourself To The World

“Think about it: We meet and work with people on a daily basis in all walks of life. When you come across someone who truly digs what they do, you simply want to be around them. It kind of gets you high. An actor who has charisma draws people in. You can’t manufacture that; it comes from the heart.
If you can find within yourself what makes you an individual, warts and all, and be brave enough to show that to the world, you are almost where you need to be. The rest is getting out of your own way to find the joy in sharing it.” by Marci Liroff
Ok so finding within yourself what makes you an individual can seem really daunting. So much of today’s living is looking outside of ourselves for acknowledgement, approval, and a sense of belonging. Staying connected to others, to groups then almost becomes a necessity, feeling and believing that none of this will happen unless we do! The clue, as Marci indicates, is when someone truly digs what they do-‘it kind of gets you high ‘, then we can get out of our own way to find the joy in sharing it.
This makes the path much clearer-once we truly ‘dig what we do’, we don’t have such a big need to go outside of ourselves. And in fact, we begin to draw others in! mainly because it comes from the heart. A flow begins to happen but it does mean finding what we truly dig. For me it’s clear as a bell-creating Voiceovers is like painting a picture with different colours and discovering what lies behind it -it can also be so much fun! Once I immerse myself in a script or a character , I don’t need to look outside of myself. It radiates joy-it’s not manufactured-in fact I am being true to myself! I have naturally got out of my own way.
Yes it does take courage and creativity-but when you are in that immersion, that’s all that matters. You want to share the energy, the joy and freedom of it all. You almost can’t help it.
When you emerge, you find that others are naturally and charismatically drawn to you-they do simply want to be around.
